One of the first things to do when you begin self-improvement is to check your attitude.

As you go through your day take some time and listen to your thoughts. What do you think about when you go shopping?
Would you label your thoughts as positive or negative? While shopping are you always worried about the price of products and your lack of sufficiant monies to shop the way you want?

As you go about your day thinking your thoughts. Do you think the people around you and the people you meet know your thoughts?
Although people will not know exactly what you are thinking, they will more or less know how you are feeling.

Our thoughts effect us and every one around us. When we go where we are known the people who know us can tell what kind of mood we are in. We are definitely not alone with our thoughts.

Thoughts are very powerful. They affect your general attitude. your attitude effects your appearance. Your thoughts are so powerful that they effect the people who you chose as friends and the people you chose to associate with.

A person with positive thoughts have invigorating effects on people they come in contact with. People who are with some one who has a positive attitude are usually energized by there thoughts.

At the same time if you are around people with a negative attitude you with feel your energy being sapped. Negative thoughts make you look gloomy and sad and can turn a happy occasion into a funeral wake.

Studies show that a positive attitude promotes better health. With a positive attitude you are able to handle stress and problems better than those with a negative attitude.

A good self-image comes from a positive attitude. Self- improvement comes from a good self-esteem. With a good attitude and a good self-image you can be unstoppable.

With a positive attitude you can effect many lives if a friend feels down, very often all they need is some one to listen to them. With a positive attitude you can usually cheer them up with out having to say a word.

A negative attitude has the opposite effect. A negative attitude has a twofold drawback. You feel bad about yourself and you make others feel the same way.

In the world we currently live it can be difficult to keep a positive attitude with so many news feeds which usually give us nothing but negative messages. A study shows that for every 14 things a parent says to his or her child, only one is positive. Sad, isn?t it.

You cannot stay away from negative things but you can carry a positive attitude by focusing on the good things in your life.

If positive attitude is great, why do people choose to adopt a negative attitude instead? One who carries a negative attitude may be actually sending a signal for attention. Feeling sad, angry, or gloomy is not wrong. It becomes unhealthy if you dwell on these thoughts for far too long.

Adopting a healthy and positive attitude promotes win-win situation.

Hitachi to enter 100W LED bulb market in Japan

Hitachi has announced that it will offer 100W-equivalent LED bulbs, joining companies such as Philips, GE, and Sylvania. (A typical 100W incandescent bulb has an output of about 1700 lm, for an efficacy of 17lm/W.) The company intends the bulb for sale only in Japan; It has not released what the actual lumen output is or its power consumption. Also, at 123mm long, the bulb is about 1cm longer than a 100W incandescent lamp, it can?t be used in outdoor applications, and is non-dimmable.

On the other hand, the light automatically lowers its light output and therefore temperature when the temperature or external humidity becomes too high, making it suitable for closed appliances or fixtures such as down lights. Many incandescent replacement lights, such as some CFLs, are not suitable for down lights because the enclosed environment causes overheating and early failures.

The light, designated theLDA15D-G, will be released in Japan on July 15 by Hitachi?s Appliances division.

Amy Winehouse: 6 stories from 'Amy, My Daughter' by Mitch Winehouse

Winehouse says that when Amy was very young, the family was always playing music inside their house and Winehouse himself, who is a jazz vocalist, was often singing. "We used to get the kids to put on little shows for us," he wrote of Amy and her brother Alex. "I'd introduce them and [mother] Janis would clap and they'd start singing ? well, I say singing... Alex, couldn't sing but would give it a go, and Amy's only goal was to sing louder than her brother. Clearly she liked the limelight. If Alex got bored and went off to do something else, Amy would carry on singing ? even after we'd told her to stop."

Health care, bank stocks lead stock market lower

NEW YORK (AP) ? Health care stocks tumbled Thursday after the Supreme Court upheld most of President Barack Obama's health care overhaul, falling along with major banks as Wall Street worried about the European debt crisis and the sluggish U.S. economy.

It had already been a bad morning for the market, which was dragged down sharply by news about regulatory investigations at Barclays, JPMorgan Chase, Citigroup and others.

Then, the high court upheld a key provision of the health care law, and the losses accelerated.

Although health care and finance dominated the headlines, the market's concerns were more widespread, stretching to numerous types of companies and economic data.

The Commerce Department said the American economy expanded at a 1.9 percent annual rate in the first quarter, a weak pace that isn't expected to pick up. The government also reported that unemployment applications fell last week, but only slightly, and analysts worried that the claims are still too high to indicate a recovery.

News Corp, parent of the Wall Street Journal and the 20th Century Fox movie studio, fell after it said it planned to split into two companies. Family Dollar declined after reporting that it missed analysts' estimates for revenue and profits.

Major indexes in France, Britain, Germany and Greece were down as the European Union met in Brussels. Leaders are trying to hammer out how to deal with the weakest countries, like Greece and Spain, but many of the previous meetings have failed to produce concrete plans.

"The first one thousand summits, I was pretty excited," deadpanned Jeff Sica, president and chief investment officer of SICA Wealth Management in Morristown, N.J.

David Lefkowitz, senior equity strategist at UBS wealth management research in New York, was also watching Europe more than the health care ruling or the bank probes. Health insurance companies make up only about 1 percent of the Standard & Poor's 500, he said.

And even concerns about the indirect effects of the health care law ? like whether it will cause small businesses to curb hiring ? can get overblown, he said. The much bigger cost of hiring is still salaries.

In the U.S., the Dow Jones industrial average fell throughout the morning. It was already down about 100 points by 10 a.m., 30 minutes into trading and just before the Supreme Court released its decision. It fell as much as 165 points later in the morning, then recovered some of those losses.

By 1 p.m., it was down 128 points, or about 1 percent, to 12,499. Thursday could be the Dow's second triple-digit loss this week.

The S&P 500 fell 13 points to 1,318. The Nasdaq composite index fell 43 points to 2,833.

JPMorgan was down 4.5 percent, more than any other company in the Dow index of 30 stocks. The New York Times reported early Thursday that a trading loss there, previously estimated at about $2 billion, could top $9 billion. JPMorgan's stock has lost 14 percent since then, compared to 3 percent for the Dow.

The U.S.-listed shares of Barclays plunged 15 percent. Regulators in the U.S. and the U.K. on Wednesday announced that the British bank would settle accusations that it had manipulated international interest rates, which are important because they affect how much consumers pay on mortgages and other loans.

On Thursday, banking stocks got another dose of unwelcome news when British regulators announced that their investigation had expanded to Citigroup, Britain's HSBC, Switzerland's UBS and the Royal Bank of Scotland'.

Financial stocks fell more than any of the other nine industry groups on the S&P 500, losing 1.7 percent in the afternoon.

Health care stocks fell 1 percent, led by sharp declines in insurers like UnitedHealth Group, WellPoint and Aetna.

But hospitals had the opposite reaction, with stocks rising notably at Hospital Corp. of America and Community Health Systems.

The reasons for the disparity weren't clear cut.

The health care law will require all Americans to carry insurance. So for hospitals and related industries, like companies that make surgical instruments or lab equipment, that can mean more customers.

It also means more customers for insurance companies. But some of those customers won't be as profitable as the companies might like, such as those who are already sick.

Even with the ruling in hand, there's plenty of uncertainty overhanging the issue. Small businesses aren't sure how much money to set aside now that more of them will be required to insure their employees. The health care law also doesn't address the overhanging problem of looming deficits in Medicare.

"It's not like we're at the end of the road here," said Gerard Wedig, a health care economist at the University of Rochester, "where our health care problems are solved."

Facebook's Email Bungle: Not What It Did but How It Did It

For every step Facebook takes toward improving consumer privacy and information control, it seems to take about five giant steps back. The latest example is the unilateral change it made to users' listed email addresses: It converted them to @facebook.com, and messages now go to the Facebook email in-box rather than to their original destinations.

New Las Vegas airport terminal adds flash

Courtesy of Las Vegas McCarran International Airport

The new terminal at McCarran International Airport in Las Vegas opens Wednesday.

By Harriet Baskas, msnbc.com contributor

The newest, shiniest, big thing in Las Vegas isn?t a hotel-casino or another Cirque de Soleil show.?It's "T3" -- the $2.4 billion Terminal 3 at McCarran International Airport.?

Sixteen international carriers will move their flights to T3 on Wednesday and Thursday. Five domestic carriers (Alaska, Frontier, JetBlue, Sun Country and Virgin America) will begin service out of T3 on July 31. United and Hawaiian will begin operating out of T3 in late August.

The 14-gate terminal, the largest modern public works project in Nevada, is expected to serve more than 11.3 million passengers annually. The terminal includes many high-tech features and other amenities designed to increase efficiency and help make what officials consider to be the front door to the city as exciting as the city itself. ?

?The visitor experience in Terminal 3 will be unlike any other in the country,? said Rossi Ralenkotter, president and CEO of the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority. ?From the moment passengers step out of the plane, they will immediately have a unique sense of place and receive the type of Las Vegas welcome we want them to receive.?

Setting the tone will be neon signs emulating the iconic ?Welcome to Las Vegas? sign that greets travelers on Las Vegas Boulevard, large-scale artwork and new technology that allows airlines to invite passengers to weigh, pay for and tag their own bags at more than 200 self-service kiosks and to scan their own boarding passes and self-board at the gates.

?We are unaware of any other large U.S. airport that utilizes the various technologies McCarran has deployed,? said Rosemary Vassiliadis, Clark County deputy director of aviation. Over the years, she added, McCarran has also been among the first airports in the country to introduce amenities such as free wireless Internet access, radio frequency identification tags for checked luggage and other technology.

Ethan Miller / Getty Images

Sin City is a major entertainment center and business travel destination, known for its carefully cultivated image, gambling and nightlife.

New technology will make it easy to get around T3. Flight, baggage and wayfinding information are displayed on more than 900 large-screen digital signs. And, at the gates, digital signage on pylons display high-resolution photos of iconic attractions passengers might see at their flight?s destination.

Like the rest of airport, T3 has complimentary wireless service, but it also offers travelers 16 new shops and restaurants, plenty of power outlets for recharging gadgets, historical photographs and artwork that includes a sculpture of two airplanes made out of 3,000 smaller sculptures of butterflies suspended on fine wires. ??

And for those visitors who want to get right down to business upon arrival ? or who want to continue gambling until they absolutely must leave for home ? there are almost 300 slot machines scattered throughout McCarran International Airport?s new terminal.

?We simply hope our customers will remember the good times they had while in Las Vegas, and leave McCarran with nothing but the good impressions that stem from a seamless travel experience at the airport,? said Vassiliadis.
